Both distance starts in Clark Parade Grounds and will take runners to an out-and-back course on footpath connecting Clark (formerly Clark Air Base of the American servicemen and during pre-WWII, it was called Fort Stotsenburg) to the scenic Miyamit Falls in Porac, Pampanga. It is an old trail used primarily by Aetas to travel from their ancestral land, Clark and other neighboring areas. The route will take runners from Tennis Court area of Clark Parade Ground (Start/Finish line) at Clark Freeport Zone (formerly Clark Air Base), Gate 14, Sacobia River, Puning Spa, Sitio Target, up the dirt road covering the sugar cane plantation, Sitio Ebus (Aeta community), down to the expansive Pasig-Potrero River (river crossing), parallel dirt road along SCTEX, Crow Creek (Sapang Uwak), passing through the Aeta community, then up to Miyamit Falls and the peak (about 3kms to caldera of Mt. Pinatubo) and back to Clark. The race is physically demanding and requires enough preparation and conditioning.

Course condition may vary depending on the weather.
For the most part, the period from November to February in the Philippines is the coldest time of the year. During the past 4 editions of CM50, weather was relatively cool and can get really chilly up in the mountains with no to occasional drizzle and hot dry weather around noontime.
NOTE: This is a physically demanding race. Runners are strongly advised to train properly for it. Given the hot weather condition for the last 3 editions, HEAT TRAINING is highly advised. 50 miles is still called the DNF Challenge.
Aid Station 1 (AS1) is located at Puning Spa, 7kms from Start/Finish line
Aid Station 2 (AS2) is at river bank of Pasig-Potrero river or KM16 (after river crossing)
Aid Station 3 (AS3) is aFTER THE DETOUR AFTER Sapang Uwak or KM26
Aid Station 4 (AS4) is at the junction going to the Falls and peak or KM30.

NOTE: There will only be one (1) drop bag section which is at AS3.
IMPORTANT: Runners are strongly advised to carry at least 2 liters of fluid from AS4 en route to the peak and back to the nearest aid station (AS4) .
50-mile runners must pass through the Falls only AFTER they have reached the peak (peak first and then Falls). All 60k runners must reach the Falls as it is their turn-around point.
NOTE: All 50 milers must bring enough fluids (RECOMMENDED: 2 liters) and fuel going to the peak after coming from AS4 as there is no aid station between AS4 and the peak which is 10 kms one way or a total distance of 20kms. The landscape between AS4 and peak is very hilly, rugged and remote but scenic. Runners, thus, should bring more fluids and fuel than they anticipate because of added exertion. Please do not ask water or food from the marshals at the peak. Runners are allowed to stash water or food along the route between AS4 and the peak but NOT in any other part of the course, which is a ground for DQ.
Food and Fluids: All stations will have water, Nutella, peanut butter, bread, choco milk drinks, watermelon, banana, boiled eggs, water, softdrinks, sports drinks and other assorted food.
Drop Bags: Runners will have to deposit their drop bags on 25 November 2017 during the pre-race briefng. CM50 crew will be there to receive them. Drop bags are accessible at AS3 (Sapang Uwak) only. Drops bags must be made of sturdy material to withstand rough handling and transportation. It should not be more than 18" x 18". Runners will have to mark their drop bags with their name. Drop bags will have to be retrieved by the runners after race at the Finish Line and given the difficulty and remoteness of AS3, the retrieval and transportation is approximately after 7pm. Otherwise, the failure of the runners to retrieve their respective drop bag and its content will be disposed off accordingly and the race organizer, staff, crew or volunteers will not incur liability therefor. Race organizer, his staff, crew and/or volunteers will not be responsible for damage of the drop bags or spoilage of their contents.
Course Markings and Critical Junctions
SUBJECT TO ADDITIONAL MARKINGS SPECIFIC FOR NIGHT and DAY RUNNING, course is primarily marked with ORANGE reflective markers, ORANGE arrow blazes and light blinkers as additional marking along Sacobia and Pasig-Potrero rivers. Both ways of the CM50 course are marked. Follow the trail markers as if connecting dots and backtrack if one gets lost. At every junction or intersection, stop for a while and look for confidence markers to indicate the correct path. On straight path or trail, it is normal to see no marking for several meters since it is indicative of correct heading. Unusual absence of blazes or markings after several minutes or hours of running is clearly a sign of incorrect direction.
ORANGE REFLECTIVE MARKERS and ORANGE arrow blazes ARE ALL STRATEGICALLY PLACED ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN GOING TO MIYAMIT AND CONVERSELY, ON THE LEFT SIDE WHEN GOING BACK TO CLARK. Thus, runners should run on the right side going to Miyamit and opposite the traffic when going back to the finish line (Clark). Markers are placed on wooden poles and also can be found on tree trunks, electric posts, ground, road, walls, plants, stones, rocks, etc. Runners should focus or closely pay attention both on the topography and markings. If one gets lost, please do not call the RD to ask for one's current location. Backtrack and look for the last marking. This and more will be included in the race and pre-race briefings.
